I genuinely believe (from sending millions of cold emails) that first lines are complete bullshit.
In almost every case, they add nothing to your email and in the worst case they take away from it.
No one cares that you read their Linkedin post, went on their website or know where they went to school.
It’s so obviously fake that it comes across as disingenuous.
Real personalisation comes from segmentation and addressing real pain points with a good offer.
You’re showing your prospect that you actually understand them, care about them and can fix a problem they need solving.
This is where tools like Clay come into play.
Using AI to auto research prospects, score leads & more so that you can create hyper-segmented smaller campaigns.
This is where I’m basing my cold email philosophy over the next 12 months.
